I was born and raised in North Carolina and currently live here with my handsome husband, our two magnificent kids, and our adorable Shih Tzu fur babies. I have been working here as an underwriting assistant part time since April 2019. I am also a first grade teacher at a local public school and have a small dog grooming business. I am married and the mother of 2 boys which keeps me busy. When I do have free time I love to read, shop and spend time with my friends and family.

My name is Colby Altom and I was born in Dallas, TX. Growing up I loved to play sports such as football, basketball, tennis, and golf. I attended Lake Highlands High School where I would join the Men’s Golf team my freshman year and play all four years. After my senior year, I was accepted into Texas Tech University. I spent the next 4 and a half years obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Marketing and graduated in the Fall of 2022.

My path began in the P&C side and gradually moved to commercial lines. I enjoy working with others and lending a helping hand when needed. In my free time I enjoy it with my family, and when it's not too cold out I enjoy going on hiking trails.

Blake Antrim started his career while still in high school working for a family run agency. After an acquisition he moved to the carrier side as a Marketing Representative for Philadelphia Insurance Companies, focusing heavily on management and professional liability. Joining Keating in 2015 as a broker and later taking over managing the professional liability division in 2018, he now brings his expertise to Scottish American, now Novatae, where he focuses on all aspects of management and professional liability. Blake has spent his entire career in Connecticut where he resides. When he is not reading policy forms he enjoys playing, fishing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Whitley Avery has been practicing insurance since 2008. Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, she began her insurance career at her family’s retail agency. Whitley obtained her Bachelors from Flagler University, followed by Masters of Business Administration at Thomas University. Saying that insurance and construction is all she's ever known definitely isn't an understatement. While construction savvy, Whitley loves a good challenge and finds valuable solutions to place your P&C business. When away from the office you can find Whitley at the nearest beach or river soaking up the Florida sun. She enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her sweet little family.

Marsha is a production underwriter for MarketScout’s (now Novatae) private client solutions division.  Ms. Ayala has over 18 years of underwriting experience and over 14 years of working in the high net worth space.  Prior to working with MarketScout Marsha worked in the retail side as a producer working hand in hand in high net worth.

Janna has been in insurance for 14 years. She began on the retail side, specializing in small business commercial lines; moving over to brokerage in 2014. She has experience with all lines of business and has been focused on Workers Compensation since 2017.

I specialize in the placement of Occupational Accident insurance for Independent Contract drivers and or workers in the transportation and GIG Industries. My name is Gabrielle, Gabby for short. I grew up in Orlando, Florida, which is where I live to this day. Kevin began his career as a Premium Auditor at AIG. He later transitioned to business development and worked in both the workers compensation division and the regional office at AIG. Kevin then worked for a program manager and The Keating Group before The Keating Group joined Scottish American, now Novatae. Marva Bingham began her career in Commercial lines as an Underwriting assistant, she joined Marketscout in 2018 after having worked a combination of 17 years at Tower insurance Group of New York and former Amtrust Insurance Group. She is an Associate Underwriter team member out of the Fort Lauderdale Office, where she reports directly to Sherrlee, where she functions as an assistant, her primary functions are processing and handling renewal and new business binds, policy issuance and endorsements, cancellations and maintaining the monthly endorsement spreadsheet. Marva is an integral part of the team where she has a great working relationship with our agents and markets.

Stephenie started her journey in the premium finance industry in 1994 after graduating from college. Starting as a senior typist and worked in every department ending in the marketing department when her previous premium finance company closed their Dallas office and consolidated operations with their home office. She was excited to start her journey with Scottish American on the premium finance team in 2020. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family,spoiling her two dogs and working with animals. Currently she holds certification in animal first aid, cpr and deals with many animals including exotics (snakes, axolotls, lizards, birds and hedgehogs oh my!)

Mary Byrne joined Keating in November 2014 in the Property and Casualty division. Keating merged with Scottish American, now Novatae, in 2021. Mary has over 30 years of experience  in the areas of Underwriting, Wholesale and Retail Brokerage. Over the past 20 plus years she has worked in the Wholesale arena. Prior to joining Keating, Mary was a Senior Vice President with the AmWins Group in Farmington, CT. Mary has assisted Retail Brokers in the construction area in the State of NY including NYC. She handles tough to place practice policies as well as project specific. She also has expertise in the  Real Estate, Products, Manufacturing, Environmental, Hospitality, Builders Risk, difficult property placements and Transportation Risks.  Mary graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Marketing. I am originally from San Francisco, but about 20 years ago ended up in a small town in the Central Valley area, where I started my accounting career. Suzanne Dettmann joined MarketScout in February 2007 in the Private Client Solutions Division. MarketScout merged with Novatae in November of 2022. I started in insurance in 1993 during a big flood here in Iowa.   I moved over to the claims dept and was there for 8 years.   6 of those as a clerical supervisor. I joined Animal Mortality in 2001 and have been doing this since then.   Yes, that is 22 years and I am still with the same 2 people I started with in 2001.   With many changes along the way. I’ve also obtained my agents license in property & casualty.

Brian Doucet's unofficial title is Underwriting Angler/College Football Enthusiast and is a Producer/Underwriter located at our Grapevine office in Texas. Being from South Carolina originally, he enjoys being on the water, fishing or enjoying other outdoor activities. As an alumnus of Clemson University, he is always eager to watch his Tigers play and is usually camped out in front of a TV somewhere during the college football season.

Dena Furmanek, CPCU has a decade of experience exclusively in the Fine Art, Jewelry, and Collections Insurance space. Currently, Dena is the Vice President of the Fine Art Program at Novatae. She manages the both the program and underwriting practices with a strong emphasis on customized solutions, especially for hard-to-place collections and coverages. Kate Sutton-Haibi holds the title of Senior Vice President in MarketScout’s Private Client Solutions Division. Kate is a tenured Insurance professional who has worked under various disciples within the Insurance Industry. She spent the majority of her career on the carrier side at Fireman’s Fund and QBE holding leadership and executive positions within Underwriting, Sales and Distribution. Kate started her career working on the Retail Agency side. Most recently she ran the Wholesale Division of RMAG Group. Kate holds a Bachelor Degree in History from Florida Atlantic University and currently resides in Jupiter, Florida.

I was born and raised in Ohio, but in 1978 I moved to the City of Lights, Las Vegas. I've been working in the insurance industry for almost 45 years. I have held the president seat for 15 years for the Nevada State Claims Association and Southern Nevada Claims Associations. I'm a big classic car owner and enthusiast. I partake in most of the shows and proudly have a room full of outstanding vehicle trophies. 

Mike is an aspiring problem solver who brings a zest for life and fun into everyday. He hails from the Appalachian foothills in Georgia as the 7th son in a surprisingly large family. Sharlene came to Scottish American with the acquisition of Keating LLC with over 20 years in the financial industry. She moved to the Grand Canyon State from Wild Wonderful West Virginia, when her husband retired.  She affectionately calls her family the Brady Bunch--she has 2 boys and a girl and her husband has 2 boys and a girl. She loves football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. When not working she loves spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, cooking, wine tasting adventures.

I have been a career finance guy but kind of just fell into premium finance. Cookie asked me to help with some special projects right after Covid started and one of those projects was helping with premium finance.The rest as they say is history. He then joined and subsequently acquired an established family MGA/wholesale operation. Ricky joined UIG/Novatae in 2016 to develop the Gulf Coast territory by building a solid team, expanding our retail agency base, adding additional markets, and building programs. 

Prior to merging with Scottish American, now Novatae, in 2021, Kellie Jennison joined Keating in May of 2018 as an account manager in the Property and Casualty Division. Kellie is on Mary Byrne’s team and assists Mary in the management and maintenance of accounts including binders, invoicing, endorsement and renewal requests. She currently resides in CT.

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband, Kris, and German Shepherd, Ellie. My free time is spent enjoying the outdoors, usually hanging out at the river, hiking or leisurely walks in the woods searching for wildflowers or mushrooms. I love birdwatching, my binoculars and field guide are always by my side. I also like to spend time in the kitchen either baking sweets or trying out new dinner recipes. Christine grew up on the East Coast and started her life in insurance almost immediately after graduating high school. She now has 20+ years of experience in the insurance domain. Chris Ornce is a veteran of the insurance industry, with over 15 years of experience focused on workers' compensation. Rachel has worked for over 8 years on the agency and carrier sides of the business but she found her home with Scottish American in 2019. When she isn't working- you can find her spending time with her husband and 4 kids, cheering on her kids at their sporting or music events, or seeing her favorite bands in concert. Hello! My name is Nick Watson and I am a former student from the University of Arizona. I am a fan of exploring new cities and places and meeting new people!

Courtney has been in the insurance industry since 2018, starting off as a jack-of-all-trades supporting multiple production divisions, but it was ultimately Professional Lines that won her over.  After a short stint as a life-long New Englander, she relocated to the much warmer shores of coastal North Carolina. My insurance career kicked off with a college internship at Lloyds of London.   My expertise is in professional liability underwriting primarily in the surplus lines arena. I’ve worked with various Lloyds coverholders for over 20 years specializing in allied, miscellaneous, epli, cyber, insurance agents, architects, and engineers.  When I am not working I am travelling as life is not meant to be in one place.
